MASMO Primary Division Contest There are awards for individuals and teams. Teams awards are only available for school teams. Yes. In order to ensure the integrity of MASMO contest, it is held in-conjunction with Singapore ASEAN Schools
Math Olympiads (SASMO) on the same day and time. Urge your principal, math teacher, or anyone else you can think of to help you out and register for the contest. There is no minimum number of students required to participate in MASMO contests. If there is less than 20
students, they need to go to the nearest participating schools or MASMO Olympiad Centres to take the
contest. NO. We will deliver the contest question/answer sheets to schools with a postage paid return envelope
(Pos Ekspres or Prepaid Courier Document). INDIVIDUAL1. Do students participate as individuals or as part of a team? Students participate as individuals within a team. No. The Olympiad program is designed to encourage all students to be involved. One of the main aims of the Olympiads is to encourage students to develop new skills and problem solving techniques. 3. Can individual students compete in the Olympiads?Yes. Registration fee for individual participant is RM50. Contest venue is at our MASMO Olympiad Centres. 4. My child is being home schooled. May my child participate in the contest?Yes. Your child can participate as individual participant at RM50 registration fee. Contest venue is at our MASMO Math Olympiads Centres. 5. What happens if a student transfers to another school?If a student transfers to another school that is participating in the Olympiads, his/her results can be transfered to the new school's team. We require written notification and details of both school teams TEAM1. How many students can participate in an Olympiad Team? Up to 20 students can participate in an Olympiad team. 2. What is the minimum number of students that can participate in an Olympiad team?There is no minimum for the number of students that can participate in a team. There is no limit to the number of teams a school can register. Often schools register 1 team per class. 4. What is the age limit for students participating in an Olympiad team for Primary Division?12 years of age in Primary 6 or below. 5. What is the age limit for students participating in an Olympiad team for Secondary Division?15 years of age in Secondary 3 or below. MASMO CONTEST1. How do we receive MASMO Questions? MASMO questions and answer sheets will be sent by mail to the school approximately one week before the official Olympiad date. 2. Can the Olympiad Questions be emailed to me?NO. For security reasons we do not email the Olympiad questions to schools. 3. How many Questions are there?There are 25 questions in total. 4. What is the time limit for MASMO?The time limit is 2 hours. 5. Are calculators allowed?NO. 6. How are the MASMO marked?The answers are marked by us. 7. How are the Olympiads scored?Each question is worth 1 point, a total of 25 points. 8. How are the scores for the MASMO awards calculated? Individual score is calculated from the sum of score. The maximum possible student score is 25. |
